September Faith and Feminism Brown Bag Lunch 09/19/2008
The Sister Fund's September Faith and Feminism Brown Bag Lunch was facilitated by Alexie Torres-Fleming, founder and executive director of Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice (YMPJ), a center for urban ministry dedicated to fostering peace and justice through youth and community development and organizing. Alexie has traveled throughout the country advocating a new paradigm of faith-based youth development and community organizing and aims to convey that a congregation that is truly alive provides not just a refuge, but also an active voice in the community, challenging its members to take responsibility for the well-being of their neighbors. She has most notably led young people and her community in a six-point campaign to reclaim the Bronx River in their neighborhood.
