The Third Wave Feminist Theologians Group working on the Third Wave Feminist Project is made up of many of the up-and-coming feminists in religious studies. Over the summer of 2008, several members of the group participated in a teaching and pedagogy grant project, and in November of 2007 many served as co-panelists for an American Academy of Religion (AAR) Annual Meeting session engaging womanist and feminist discourses.
Presently, the development of an edited, book-length manuscript is the primary publication intention of the Third Wave Feminist Project. Women of Faith: Scholarship, Activism, and the Next Generation, a third wave feminist anthology, seeks to articulate the links among feminism, activism and scholarship from the perspective of the writers. This is a crucial task, as the coming generation of feminists in the academy and those scholars seeking "alternative" classrooms in faith communities and activist movements must learn the history of our foremothers and seek new visions for faith and feminism.
The Third Wave Feminist Project also intends to promote the work, ideas and concept of faith and feminism through online publishing on sites such as faithandfeminism.org, Beliefnet, The Progressive Christian and CrossLeft. Participant authors will also seek, where relevant, to write for secular feminist outlets to generate conversations about faith perspectives.
