Founded in 1886, Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) grants undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees through its five schools and offers serious programs of enrichment for the Jewish community in the United States, Israel and around the world.
Committed to fostering meaningful religious experience, Dr. Tikva Frymer-Kensky (1943-2006) was a pioneer of faith-based feminism who worked throughout her career to make ancient texts relevant and ethically informative for contemporary readers. She was committed to interfaith dialogue and to discovering humanistic values in ancient texts that would reach and inform a wide audience. The need to continue these efforts is widely recognized in the academic and religious worlds and was supported by The Sister Fund.
