The Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR), based in Washington D.C., conducts rigorous research and disseminates its findings to address the needs of women and strengthen families, communities and societies. Its research and promotion of public dialogue address issues such as race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status and focus on policies and practices that help women achieve equality and autonomy, as well as ways to increase their civic and political participation. Throughout its 20-year history, IWPR’s work has resulted in countless policy changes designed to improve women’s status.
IWPR recently hosted "Breaking Boundaries and Building Bridges: Women’s Activism, Values and Vision," an all-day track at the 2008 Women’s Economic Justice Summit, co-sponsored with the National Organization for Women (NOW) and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). This summit was held on April 11-12, 2008 in Atlanta, and brought together feminist, civil rights, social justice and research networks of its co-sponsors.
