Greater Works, Inc. is a non-profit philanthropic organization which exists to provide financial resources and technical assistance to faith-based, women-led start-ups, social justice-focused ministries and churches pastored by women. By making small grants and offering technical assistance, Greater Works hopes to facilitate the realization of God’s desire for human flourishing on earth, first in the city of Memphis and its surrounding areas, and ultimately throughout the world. Formed by Rev. Dr. Gina M. Stewart in 2002, Greater Works, Inc. is committed to providing strategic direction, leadership training, and critical relationship-building skills to those called to start social justice ministries.

Prior to becoming a full time pastor, Dr. Stewart worked in the non-profit sector and gained exposure to a considerable number of start-up organizations that never gained traction because they did not have access to the caliber of funding or technical support that would have fanned the flame of their capacity. Greater Works, Inc. was formed because philanthropic ventures and biblical generosity need a vehicle to activate the latent impulse in human beings to “bring dollars, donors and dreams together.” The staff of Greater Works, Inc. is in contact with a number of emerging non-profit organizations and faith-based projects which are in need of technical and funding support. Generally, these small, faith-based start-ups do not come to the attention of donors because of their size or religious affiliation. Led by women who are not well-connected in the business or philanthropic sectors, these projects are easily overlooked by major funders. Though they do not lack in vision or potential effectiveness, they struggle to get off the ground because they are supported by the personal donations of the visionaries. Greater Works, Inc. is positioned to reach out to these non-profit organizations and faith-based institutions which are not classified and are unregistered with the City Planning Office.
