Global Action on Aging
Amount Awarded: $10,000
in support of a joint mentorship between Susanne Paul and the CC Young Center

The Global Action on Aging (GAA) is a non-governmental organization in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council which promotes the social, economic and health concerns of older persons worldwide. GAA was founded in 1994 shortly after the publication of founder and president, Susanne Paul’s book, Humanity Comes of Age, presenting the first global view of population aging and the resulting global policy issues. Global Action on Aging grew out of a 1998 United Methodist Women’s Division Initiative to define older women’s human rights at an international conference held in Nashville.

Located near Dallas, Texas, the United Methodist related C.C. Young Center combines advanced facilities for seniors with highly involved volunteers and supporters. Widely known for its innovative programming, the C.C. Young Center attracts residents and many other guests. As a non-sectarian institution, the C.C. Young Center has a long-standing relationship with the United Methodist North Texas Annual Conference. A leader in its field, C.C. Young Center believes older persons everywhere need to understand how to use their many talents and capacities fully and effectively.

Supporters of the C.C. Young Center and GAA see a need to share ideas and seek to approach a joint conversation or mentorship. This mentorship will be created between Susanne Paul and selected residents and C.C. Young staff.
