After almost 15 years of existence, Con-spirando is recognized both in Chile and throughout Latin America as an established eco-feminist organization working in the areas of theology, spirituality, gender studies and ecology. Con-spirando began in early 1991 in Santiago, Chile as a result of a group of women who came together to share "a sacred space and time"— moments of creative ritual and experiences of the Holy in their lives. From these times together, a core group of women emerged: the Con-spirando collective.
Aware of its growing influence, Con-spirando is committed to constantly broadening the magazine’s scope so that it becomes a space where the exchange and debate of ideas becomes its hallmark. In all its work — its publications, Web page, seminars, educational modules, summer schools, rituals and research — it seeks to become a vibrant network that is critical of the culture in which its members live while at the same time offering proposals, new ways of perceiving reality and new methodologies that might contribute to broad cultural change. They are deeply aware that they are living in a time of a crisis in paradigms where more questions than answers are surfacing. They see the Con-spirando network as a place where this crisis can be articulated, and where questions can be raised and debated thoroughly and creatively. At the same time, they seek to be faithful to their history and continue to engage those religious and cultural images and practices that mark women and need to be unmasked as symbolic violence against women.
