The Asian Women Resource Centre for Culture and Theology (AWRC) developed out of a conference of theologically trained women in Singapore, held on the initiative of Sun Ai Lee Park (Korean ordained minister and poet) and Pura Calo (Filipina Christian educator) in 1987.
For over 25 years, AWRC has been committed to exposing and challenging the oppression of Asian women in koinonia (Christian fellowship). Through the formulation of an Asian women’s contextual theology of liberation and through the support of transformative action in the church and society, AWRC has been able to claim and exercise women's equality and human worth in church and society, while contributing to the global dialogue on women’s theology and spirituality.
