American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA Society), a New York City-based not-for-profit 501(c)3 founded in 1997, is an Islamic cultural and educational organization dedicated to fostering an American Muslim identity and building bridges between American Muslims and the American public. ASMA Society’s philosophical objectives are to: 1) strengthen a culturally American expression of Islam based on tolerance and on cultural and religious harmony; and 2) foster an environment in which Muslims can thrive.
With support from The Sister Fund, the ASMA Society, in collaboration with The Cordoba Initiative, planned the Muslim Women Leaders Forum (MWLF), a gathering of 100 Muslim women leaders, both domestic and international. The MWLF was the first such gathering of its kind and will be at the Aspen Institute in Aspen.
